Luxury Men’s Watches for the Outdoors
Just in time for summer, we have found five of the newest and hippest men’s luxury watches. Our casual and rugged selections include sports, dive and aviator watches that can handle outdoor and water use. Since summer is the time for outdoor activities and vacations, we avoided watches made of precious metals and those with leather straps.
Our selections reflect the season with splashes of color and look good with both casual and semi-formal attire.
Our first selection, the Ulysse Nardin Black Sea, is a luxurious but rugged design with a 45.8mm steel case covered by a matte black rubber coating and matching black rubber strap. Despite the heavy presence of black, the watch contains a pop of color in the blue dial detailing and engravings on the dial, strap and case. This Black Sea watch is a favorite of those with nautical aspirations.
A more colorful summer choice is the Graham Chronofighter Oversize. This watch contains a 47 mm steel case with a black ceramic bezel and carbon fiber trigger. The strap is made of a blue techno fabric with a coordinating blue dial. This unique blue color on the dial and strap makes the watch distinctive and stylish, giving it a summer flare.
Our next choice is a bold orange chronograph from the brand Planet Ocean. The most brightly colored of all our featured selections, it is sure to stand out. The Omega Planet Ocean Co-Axial Chrono features a Co-Axial escapement and a two thousand foot water resistance rating due to its helium valve. It is made with a 45.5 mm steel dial and embellished with an orange bezel, orange chrono buttons and an orange rubber strap that is made to look like leather.
Now for a watch that can handle any summer activity you can think of, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Chronograph Cermet is the latest from the Deep Sea line. Its 44 mm case is made of a new and modern material called Cermet; an ultra-resilient blend of aluminum and ceramic that’s lighter than titanium. Despite the modern materials, the design is vintage in styling, reminiscent of their 1959 Memovox Deep Sea. The vintage theme continues with a chrono indicator modeled after their 1930’s “chronoflight” onboard instrument. This indicator is red when the chronograph is stopped, white and red when it is running and white when it is ready to use. While normally outfitted with a black satin strap, a limited edition version containing blue dial markers and a blue and black nato strap is also available.
Our last selection is from a brand synonymous with luxury watches, Rolex. While we had a difficult time choosing between the Rolex Yacht Master II and the latest GMT Master II with a black and blue Cerachrom bezel. However, the Yacht Master II won out by virtue of being less predictable than the GMT Master II design. The very summer oriented New Yacht Master II comes in 904L stainless steel. The shiny steel band features a mixed polished and brushed bracelet finish and a blue Cerachrom bezel. The look is completed with a white lacquer dial containing blue and red lacquer detailing.
The red, white and blue styling lends the watch both color and a patriotic feel. The chronograph also features a small-seconds subdial and is a regatta (yacht racing) style watch, which gives it its name.
