Should You Invest In Mesa Certified Diamonds?

Investors are always on the lookout for good investments with high returns, and Mesa AZ real estate has taken a major turn while the stock market is going down. What does one do?

Investing in Precious Stones & Metals

In a situation like this where the economy is extremely unstable, the investor does not quite trust it and looks at other options such as gold, silver, platinum, copper and let’s not forget precious stones like the diamonds.

Certified Diamonds — What Are They?

Should You Invest Your Certified Diamonds? The hardest substance to exist on this planet are diamonds, it is made up of carbon of the purest form. Diamonds are very valuable for several reasons such as the mining and labor involved which is very expensive and time consuming with no guarantee on a satisfactory result.

Experts state that in order to arrive at a one carat figure miners would need to process around two hundred and fifty tons of rock which is necessary to be used in the process of making fine jewelry. Amongst the mined stones only one fifth are known to meet the gem quality standards. These stones are then sent to get cut and designed and later sold as jewelry which forms a major part of the jewelry business. The rest of the remaining mined stones are used in the industry for saw blades, and many such related things which could serve the industry.

Grading

Grades from a very important part of determining quality diamonds and hence this process is looked into on the basis of the kind of color, weight of the carat, clarity of the stone and also the cut. The various grades of color range from “D” to “Z” where a stone that proves to be colorless receives a grade of “D” and the stone that is yellow receives a grade of “Z”. Investors generally look for stones that are graded “I” or something better.

There is a grade that measures the imperfections of a stone which in turn would affect the stone’s purity, this grade is called the “Clarity grade”. Diamonds that are flawless receive an “IF” grade and diamonds that are flawed receive an “I3” grade.

How Are Diamonds Certified?

There are various independent laboratories whose business is to certify stones; their job involves only certifying them and not selling. If one goes to any gemstone wholesaler or broker they would find that they are very particular about two reliable kinds of certification, one being the GIA or the Gemological Institute of America and the EGL, which is the European Gemological Laboratory.

How Much Do They Cost?

Certified diamonds is a part of the trading business and hence the prices keep changing time and again. If you’re looking for a very rare but high grade stone the price would also reflect on the same. To give you an example, an “E” grade half- carat emerald stone would cost you nearly around $1500 whereas an “H” grade emerald cut diamond of three carat would cost you more than $24,000.

Will They Increase In Value?

Just like any other investment, fluctuations occur with certified gemstones too. There will be larger fluctuations towards large gemstones than small ones so it makes sense for investors to invest their money in the largest certified ones to get best returns.

Based on statistics reported by economists it shows that a certified diamond brings around a 30 percent return on investment since the last five years and they continue to state that there is an expected increase where the returns could go up to 10 to 20% more in the next couple of years. In the current situation where we have wealthy Chinese people entering the market, several analysts have predicted a 100% increase in rates for certified diamonds over the next five to ten years.
